This is why it’s important that all surfaces – especially welded areas – are rounded. A special type of bevelling process is called metal rounding. Rounding is removing metal from a sharp edge to create uniform radius. This is needed as a bonding surface for paint and coatings which lowers the risk of peeling and corrosion (rust).

Once that is done then its crucial to prime paint your container and finish it off with metal paint coatings. Metal paint coatings will last you about 5 years when located in a salty air climate – for example living close to the beach or living on an island.
